SAN ANTONIO -- Mayor Julián Castro will kick off the San Antonio Public Library 2012 Summer Reading Program Tuesday, May 29, at 2:30 p.m. in the Central Library at 600 Soledad in San Antonio.

This is the second year that the program is a SA2020 initiative. SA2020 is a community-wide effort, begun by Mayor Castro in 2010, to chart San Antonio’s course for the next decade.

Each child who finishes the program will receive a book to keep and a completion certificate signed by Mayor Castro. Teens may receive prizes, and will be invited to an end of summer celebration.

Along with reading, the library offers free activities for children and teens throughout June and July.

Children and teens may sign up online at www.mysapl.org, or in person at their local libraries.

A complete schedule of events is available on the library’s website or at any San Antonio Public Library location.
