LOCKHART -- The Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas (ICA) announced May 15 that they will award 12 deserving students with $500 scholarships at the 38th annual Convention and Trade Show set for June 20-22 in San Marcos. Local recipients are Brooke Kosub, Jalynn Muenich, and Brooke Young. Other recipients are Megan Carter, Dalton Horn, Greg Freeman, Mallory Franzen, Shannon Duncan, Kelly Garrett, Breana Tater, Clayton Langhoff, and Kelli Neuman.

Brooke Kosub, the daughter of Thomas and Judith Kosub, grew up in St. Hedwig, and has been involved in her local FFA and 4-H chapter. An avid member of her church group, Brooke serves as a class officer and is a member of the National Honor Society. She plans to attend Texas A&M University in College Station and major in agricultural economics.

Jalynn Muenich, the daughter of Leroy and Carol Muenich, is a native of Seguin and attends Navarro High School. As an active member of the Navarro 4-H Club, Jalynn has served on the county council, as a state livestock ambassador, and has received the Guadalupe County Gold Star award. Jalynn plans to attend Texas State University and ultimately receive her doctor of veterinary medicine at Texas A&M University.

Brooke Young, the daughter of Tracey and Robert Young Jr., helps out on her family farm in La Vernia and is involved with community events. A member of a state poultry judging team, Brooke has developed a passion for poultry science, which she plans to pursue at Texas A&M University this fall with a minor in animal science.

The Independent Cattlemen’s Association is honored to be able to help such deserving young people and looks forward to seeing the impact they’ll make on the world.
