AUSTIN -- Andrew Michael McArter, 29, a Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitive, is now in custody after his arrest in Rockwall County. Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Criminal Investigations Division Agents and the U.S. Marshals Joint East Texas Fugitive Task Force surrounded the truck he was riding in as he arrived at a residence in the city of Rockwall.

McArter, a confirmed gang member of the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas, was transported to the Rockwall County Jail after being arrested Wednesday afternoon. The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, and the McKinney, Denton and Rockwall Police departments assisted in the apprehension. Since no tip from the public was involved, no reward will be paid.

McArter was wanted for Parole Violation and Larceny, and now faces an additional drug charge. He has a lengthy criminal history, including Possessing/Transporting Anhydrous Ammonia, Assault Causing Bodily Injury, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and Resisting/Evading Arrest. In 2000, he was linked with 17 burglaries, which led to an Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity conviction.

So far this year, DPS and other agencies have arrested 13 Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives and Sex Offenders, including 8 gang members. Texas Crime Stoppers, funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, has paid a total of $33,000 in rewards for tips that led to an arrest in 2012.

DPS investigators work with local law enforcement agencies to select fugitives featured in the Texas 10 Most Wanted Program. You can find the current lists--with photos--on the DPS website at http://www.dps.texas.gov/texas10mostwanted/.

Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in four different ways:
Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
Text the letters DPS--followed by your tip--to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
Submit a Facebook tip at http://www.facebook.com/texas10mostwanted by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).

All calls, texts, e-mails and Facebook messages are anonymous.

Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
