The setting for the 2012 Culture Fair was Friday, May 18, in the Stockdale High School Gym. Mrs. Akin’s PreAP and AP English classes presented their skits, props, and costumes for the entire school as well as the public. Each group chose a piece of literature that they had read during the year and the two weeks prior to the fair, the groups spent time making their props, gathering their costumes, and practicing their skits. The freshmen chose to act out The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet, The Odyssey, and The Cask of Amontillado; the sophomores chose Antigone, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, A Raisin in the Sun, and On the Beach; the juniors chose Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, The Great Gatsby, Dante’s Inferno, The Crucible, and Tuesdays with Morrie; the seniors combined their presentation by having Grendel on one side and Beowulf on the other and intertwined the two together. All of the groups did a great job and look forward to next year’s fair.
