Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Nick Mutz, a lifelong resident of Wilson County, Texas, entered eternal rest Monday, June 4, 2012, at 10:30 a.m., in the Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville at the age of 92 years, 9 months, and 3 days. Nick was born in Karnes City on Sept. 1, 1919, the son of Anton and Susie Rutkowski Mutz.

He attended school and was a lifelong farmer. Nick married Rosie Sekula on May 25, 1942, in St. Ann Catholic Church in Kosciusko. Nick was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth and the Altar Society.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers and sisters, Emrick Mutz, Celica Taylor, Dora Forehand, Tillie Isom, Cleo Mutz, Gladys MacFarland, Alvin Mutz, Mary Gembler, and Alfred Mutz.

Nick is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Rosie Mutz of Poth; his children, Elmarie Rose Dunn of Buda, Joan M. Gawlik and husband Robert of Falls City, Betty Jean Mutz of Cestohowa, Wilfred Alex Mutz and wife Debbie of Poth, Leroy Nick Mutz of Poth, Sharlene Ann Hugghins and husband Steve of Floresville, Janice Ellen Bodden and husband John of Poth, Annette G. Pruski and husband Bobby of Poth, and Karen S. Hons and husband Glenn of Poth; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held Wednesday, June 6, at 5 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth, officiated by Father Grzegorz Szewczyk, S.D.S.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Nick’s grandsons, Anthony Gawlik, Gregory Gawlik, Jonathan Mutz, Karl Mutz, John Bodden IV, Jeremy Pruski, Brian Pruski, and Joshua Hons.
