Presiliano “Pres” Tamez Sr., 63, of Nixon, Texas, died in his home Sunday, June 3, 2012. A native of Nixon, Pres was born July 10, 1948, the son of Raul and Delfina (Lopez) Tamez.

He worked as a salesman and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nixon.

He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Joey Tamez; and a nephew, Joey Tamez.

Pres is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janie (Bustamante) Tamez of Nixon; his son, Presiliano Tamez Jr. of Tucson, Ariz.; his daughter, Priscilla Tamez of Tucson; and his mother, Delfina Tamez Bustamante of Nixon. He is also survived by his sister, Leonora Gaytan and Emilio Vela of Oklahoma City, Okla.; his brothers, Rick Tamez of Seguin, Fred Tamez and wife Vivian of Victoria, and Robert “Bob” Tamez and wife Sally of Stockdale; four grandchildren, Victor Coronado and Raul Tamez of Nixon and Zoe Tamez and Zavier Tamez of Tucson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.

Visitation was held Thursday, June 7, from 4-8 p.m. in the Finch Chapel in Nixon, with a rosary recited at 6 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Friday at 10 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nixon, with Father Alfonso Gioppato as celebrant.

Interment followed in the Nixon Latin American Cemetery in Nixon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
