The 68th annual Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee is set for Thursday through Saturday, June 14-16, in Stockdale. The Stockdale Chamber of Commerce has been busy making preparations for all the festivities.

The official weigh-in for the Wilson County Largest Watermelon Contest is set for Thursday, from 4-8 p.m., at 1009 West Jackson St. in Stockdale.

The second installment of the Watermelon Rumble, live TWA Professional Wrestling, will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Stockdale City Park and will feature a Texas heavyweight title match. Admission to the park is $5.

“Cinco Variety Band” will provide entertainment beginning at 9 p.m. at the main pavilion.

Friday evening’s festivities begin at 6 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person per night if you purchase tickets at the gate. Tickets can also be purchased at www.ticketweb.com. Children 10 and under get in free all weekend.

The rodeo pre-show includes the crowning of Alyssa Alsobrook as Miss Rodeo Stockdale and Jonathan Borchardt as Little Mr. Rodeo. Candidates vying for the Little Miss Rodeo title are Miranda Mock and Nayli Schmidt. The crowning of the Rodeo Queen dates back to 1962.

The first of two rodeos by producer Lester Meier Rodeo Co. will begin at 7:30 p.m. A calf scramble will also take place during the rodeo.

Kyle Bennett will open up on Friday night for the “Josh Abbott Band” at 8:30 p.m. at the main pavilion.

On Saturday, a 5K Watermelon Crawl Run/Walk and Kids Crawl will start the all-day slate of activities for all ages. Race-day registration will be available from 6:45-7:45 a.m. 1009 West Jackson St. in Stockdale.

The deadline for early registration for this year’s 5K Run/Walk and Kids Crawl is Friday, June 15, at 3 p.m. Registration forms are available on the chamber’s website at www.stockdaletx.org or at the Brahma Bullpen in Stockdale. Early registration is also available online at http://www.athleteguild.com.

The downtown parade will begin at 10 a.m. Wilson County resident and Wounded Warrior Shilo Harris will be the grand marshal for the 2012 Watermelon Jubilee Parade. Queen Melone Ashlee Rangel and her court will make their first parade appearance.

Park activities will continue all day, including a petting zoo and pony rides, chuckwagon cooking, and carnival-type games. Other events include volleyball, horseshoe, and washer tournaments and the Watermelon Olympics. There will be plenty of music, entertainment, and food. Performers include an Elvis impersonator at 1 p.m., Sierra Cecil at noon and 3:30 p.m., and Johnny Cash at 1:30 p.m.

The second rodeo is set for 7:30 p.m., with the pre-rodeo set for 7 p.m.

Mark McKinney will open up on Saturday night for the “Randy Rogers Band” at 9 p.m.

The purchase of a personal Chamber of Commerce membership for $5 will provide free parking for the duration of Jubilee weekend on the Jubilee grounds. The Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department will once again be assisting with parking for this year’s festival, charging $5 per car for access into the grounds each night. All proceeds from parking will benefit the Stockdale Volunteer Fire Department.

For a full schedule of events for the 68th annual Stockdale Watermelon Jubilee, visit the chamber’s website at www.stockdaletx.org.
