The H.O.P.E. Day check presentation was held in the Stockdale High School Food Court on Wednesday, May 23. The proceeds of $4,434.11 were donated to the American Cancer Society in Judy Childress’s name.

Mrs. Childress is an ex-student and educator at Stockdale High School who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. She has undergone treatment and is doing well.

John Pish, a representative for the American Cancer Society, accepted the check from co-chairpersons Eryn Pierdolla and Charlin Akin. He gave a short speech to the students explaining how the American Cancer Society operates and what they do with the donations they receive. He also stated that anyone in Wilson County who is currently battling this dreaded disease might get in touch with the San Antonio office to receive any benefits that may be offered.

This year’s H.O.P.E. Day set a record with the $4,434.11.

Junior Journalist Saman-tha Jones is a junior at Stockdale High School. She is a cheerleader, participates in cross country and track, and is a member of the National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Samantha hopes to study to become a technical surgeon after high school.
