La Vernia High School seniors Nadine C. Bonewitz, Kristen P. Dennehy, Zachary E. Gonzalez, and Aaron S. Grubb each are recipients of a $1,000 “Patrick Coward Memorial Scholarship.” The scholarships are presented by the Knights of Columbus Council 12208 in La Vernia for the 2012-13 school year.

Nadine enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin with plans to become a sports broadcaster.

Kristen will pursue a course of study at Texas A&M University at College Station to become a physician assistant.

Zachary enrolled at the University of Texas at Austin where he will begin studies to pursue a career as an orthopedic surgeon.

Aaron enrolled at the University of Texas at San Antonio where he will begin studies in education with the goal of becoming a teacher and coach.

The “Patrick Coward Memorial Scholarship” was named after the late Patrick Coward, a former teacher and member of Council 12208.

The La Vernia Knights of Columbus Council has awarded at least one $1,000 scholarship in his honor since the 2002-03 school year. This is the first time four scholarships have been awarded.
