Ariel Bermea, daughter of Mario and Adella Bermea, graduated May 18, 2012, from Nixon-Smiley High School as Salutatorian of her class. Ariel has been accepted to A&M College Station and will be attending beginning this fall. She will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Some of her achievements are One Act Play, UIL Spelling district champ, UIL Calculator 2nd Place Team for two years, Marching Band Drum Major for three years, Drill Team member for four and Captain for two, National Honor Society, All-Region Band qualifier for two years, Spanish Club, Student Council, Science Club, and a 4.0 gpa.

Ariel has volunteered her time to other students through tutoring. She has also assisted in Coats for Kids and Student Council’s Christmas Tree Project. Ariel is very involved with her church community and is a part of the Catholic youth. She has participated in church retreats for the past three years. She has taken an active role in educating the youth of St. Philips by teaching catechism and helping with Vacation Bible School every summer. In her spare time she enjoys dancing, listening to music, and spending time with her family and friends. Gig’ em, Aggies! Whoop!
