Denise Ferry is LV salutatorian
Denise Lynn Ferry, La Vernia class of 2012 salutatorian, has been a member of the La Vernia community for her entire life. She has attended primary school, elementary school, and high school in the La Vernia school district.
Denise was a pole vaulter on the track team her freshman year.
She participated on the FFA Chapter Conducting team for two years -- one year as the reporter and a second year as the vice president. Her team won state the year she was reporter.
Denise is a member of the National Honor Society, the Gifted and Talented Program, and the One-Act Play. She has participated as a student election clerk at La Vernia City Hall for a couple of citywide elections.
Denise has always enjoyed mathematics, which led to her choice to pursue a degree in civil engineering. She will attend Texas A&M University in College Station in the fall. She has received several scholarships, including the Opportunity Award Scholarship ($4,000), the Top 10 percent State Scholarship ($12,000), the Lechner Scholarship ($10,000), and the USAA Employee Dependent Scholarship ($10,000).
Denise is graduating with honors, a distinguished student, a top 10 percent student, and a National Honor Society graduate. She is excited to see what’s in store for her future and she can’t wait to start her new life as a college student!
In her spare time, Denise enjoys yoga as well as horse-back riding. She loves watching baseball, and is excited to be able to attend more games up at A&M in the coming year. She looks forward to carrying on the Aggie tradition -- with some of her friends! Gig ’em!
