Stockdale High School class of 2012 valedictorian is Moises Holguin, 18, the son of Moises and Elizabeth Holguin. The older brother of Sarah Holguin, Moises enjoys solving mathematical problems and programming computers. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin majoring in computer science.

Moises is a part of the Stockdale Bilingual Church of Christ and has volunteered countless hours on Mexico mission trips, Vacation Bible School, the Relay For Life, nursing home singings, and other various activities. He served as class president for two years, but has recently placed his time in other organizations as well. He is the president of the National Honor Society and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

He has been a part of Gifted and Talented for four years and participates in various UIL activities. Moises has played football, basketball, and track throughout his high school career, but apart from athletics, he also competes in UIL computer science, calculator applications, and mathematics. He has led his team to several consecutive district and regional championships, as well as winning these titles as an individual contestant.

Back to back to back state qualifying shows both the commitment and hard work that is put forth. Moises has received numerous awards for his academic excellence from the president and several universities. He is a well-rounded individual who leads pep rallies, peer tutors, speaks at community events, and is always willing to help.

Moises plans to work for Apple, Google, or Microsoft to earn experience and will one day start his own business.
