Summer is here and school is out for the Stockdale Independent School District (ISD).
May has been a very busy month. Graduation has come and gone and we would like to congratulate this year’s valedictorian, Moises Holguin, and salutatorian, Courtney Trout. Good luck to them as they enter a new phase in their lives. We would also like to congratulate all of the graduating seniors from Stockdale High School. A new page has turned in their lifebooks and they are ready to write a new chapter!
Eryn Pierdolla and Charlin Akin did another wonderful job on the HOPE day events. Thanks to these two fine teachers as well as the entire high school staff for all they did for this event. Also, the culture fair was again a big success. You really have to see it to appreciate all the time and effort that goes into seeing the students perform.
Construction has been winding down on the new buildings of Stockdale ISD. The food court has been in operation for one month while the kinks are being worked out and, needless to say, it is a wonderful building! The new tennis courts are complete and are looking great.
Teachers of the month for May were Chris Brown, Elementary School; Robert Poore, Junior High School; and Any Theide, High School.
The Stockdale ISD would like to give out a very special thanks to Rick Rutland for 18 years of service as a board member. He resigned his position in May and Craig Clancy has been appointed to fill his unexpired term.
Once again, everyone have a great and safe summer. Before you know it, we will be back at it again for the 2012-13 school year!
Paul Darilek is the superintendent of the Stockdale ISD.
