Ernest A. “Ernie” Wilder of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at the age of 73 years, 4 months, and 29 days. He was born on Jan. 15, 1939, in San Antonio to Damon Dee Wilder and Evelyn Marietta Holmes.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Marilyn.

He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Sayre and husband Michael of Converse; his son, Richard Wilder of La Vernia; grandchildren Richard Wilder II and Cody Wilder, and Brett, Clark, Luke, Scott, and Wade Sayre; his sister, Patsy Hester of La Vernia; nephew Douglas Hester and wife Cheryl of La Vernia; niece Shaleen Parker and husband J.D. of La Vernia; numerous other family members; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held Sunday, June 17, from 5-7 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery near La Vernia.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4101 S. Alameda, Corpus Christi, TX 78411.
