1950-2012

Juanita “Janie” Treviño-Estrada went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. She fought a 13-year-long battle with scleroderma. She was born in Floresville, Texas, on Feb. 9, 1950.

Janie worked for the city tax office for almost seven years, then at SBC for 25 years. Janie was everyone’s friend and loved music and dancing. Her favorite saying was, “Each day is a gift, live it to the fullest.” The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Brian Winn, Dr. Gary Songco, Dr. Jose Font, and their staff as well as the Christus Sister Mary Hospice Center. Janie requested that women please not wear black, but bright colors.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan and Petra Treviño.

Janie is survived by her only child, Bianca Treviño and husband Robert; his two daughters, Leticia Zapata and husband Nieves and Sandra Ramon and husband Ruben; four grandchildren; all of the Alvino Castellano Sr. family; the Martin Zapata family; and her best friend, Alice Faye Payne.

The family received friends from 6:30 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, in the Porter Loring Mortuary North Chapel in San Antonio followed by a rosary at 7 p.m.

A funeral Mass was held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the St. Matthew Catholic Church in San Antonio.

Memorial donations may be made to San Juan De Los Lagos Catholic Church, 3231 El Paso, San Antonio, TX 78207.
