Floresville High School head football and athletic director John Baker has been placed on leave following his June 17 arrest. Baker, 49, was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Baker's contract was the subject of an agenda item at a June 21 special meeting of the Floresville Independent School District board of trustees. The board voted to authorize "the superintendent and legal counsel to proceed as discussed in closed session."

Saddened you are wrong, all employees do not have to maintain clear criminal background checks. I'm sure if you did run checks on current employees, ALL, you would find many of them do have some type of arrest, or maybe even ... More ›

Teachers, coaches and all school employees are subject to background checks. They must maintain a clean criminal record. In the end it will depend on the level of the charges and the final disposition. Coach Baker is not a perfect ... More ›

Don't want to get into anyone's personal affairs. Just want to see some new coaches at high school. Wouldn't wish what happened to coach baker or what he is going thru on anyone. Just saying time for a new head coach and AD.
