The life of a young girl was saved this afternoon, thanks to the quick action of the lifeguards at the Floresville City Pool.

Lt. Jesse Evins of the Floresville Police Department said a call came in at about 4 p.m. stating a child was unresponsive after being pulled from the water by lifeguards.

“The lifeguards observed the juvenile to be unresponsive,” Evins said. “They pulled her from the water and began cardiopulmonary resuscitation. At that point, she became responsive and began coughing up water."

She was then transported by EMS to the hospital.

In case you hadn't noticed, the city is running the pool understaffed. There are 3 chairs, but usually only 2 lifeguards in them.

Thanks be to God for the child's safety. But, yes, my first thought was why did they not see the child right away if the child was struggling? Hopefully they are investigating....
