Kicaster’s first annual Shrimp Boil will be Saturday, June 30, at 5 p.m. in the Kicaster Country Store at the corner of C.R. 324 and F.M. 3432 (Sulphur Springs Road) between Loop 1604 and F.M. 775 near La Vernia.

Joe Shadrock and Jeri Coldewey will put their Cajun chef caps on and prepare some of the best shrimp, sausage, and red beans and rice to be served from 5-9 p.m. or until it’s gone. The Kicaster kitchen will also be open until 10 p.m. serving its full menu.

Entertainment will be provided by Jeri, playing some great Cajun, country, and other requests from 5-9 p.m., followed by Randy Riedel and the “Country Tradition Band” playing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Crab races will start at 6 p.m. with an entry fee of $2 for each participant.

Tickets are $8.50 presale or $10 at the door subject to availability. Red beans and rice and sausage will be available for $5 a bowl.

All proceeds will benefit the youth of Wilson County. Sponsors are Kicaster Country Store, White Lightning Liquor Store, and the Wilson County News.
