ESD No. 2 meeting location to change
The current meeting space for the Wilson County Emergency Services District (ESD) No. 2 board meetings has become valuable real estate to its hosts, the Oak Hills Community Church north of Floresville.
The board’s vice president, Sarah Gella, said after the June 25 board meeting that the board has to find a new meeting space. This is because some new ministries starting up within the congregation will need to utilize their current space. Gella said the board would prefer to continue meeting within the bounds of the ESD, but this could be difficult, because suitable local meeting spaces are few.
The board was set to decide on a new meeting location during its July 2 meeting.
Also during the meeting, the board received a report of the ESD’s first-ever financial audit, which was performed by Armstrong, Vaughan & Associates. Gella said the report, which included information about the district’s finances from Jan. 1-Sept. 30, 2011, indicated that the ESD was in compliance with all state requirements and there were no findings or recommendations.
Items still in progress for the ESD include its webpage -- which is under construction -- and its request for proposal (RFP) for providers of fire and emergency medical services. The board approved corrections for the final draft of the RFP June 28, Gella said. The document will be available for public review until a July 16 public hearing.
