FLORESVILLE -- William C. Barrera, 42, of Floresville is charged with one count each of stalking and harassment, in connection with a June 27 incident outside the Walmart Supercenter on U.S. 181 here.
Detective George Ortiz of the Floresville Police Department said Patrolman Eric Hutchinson was dispatched at 12:02 p.m. to the Verizon store near the intersection of U.S. 181 and Tiger Lane. Upon arriving, Hutchinson met with a woman who said she had just left Walmart after finding a sexually graphic note on the driver-side window of her parked car.
Hutchinson and Detective Jesse Gutierrez met with Walmart loss-prevention personnel, who showed the officers video surveillance footage from the parking lot. Ortiz said the video showed that at 10:19 a.m., a male driving an older, primer gray Ford pickup truck with white rear rims drove up to the victim’s car and placed the note. The truck was traced back to Barrera, who was located, questioned, and allegedly admitted to the incident.
Barrera was then transported to the Wilson County Jail, where jail records indicate he was released after posting a total of $41,500 bond. This is pending review of his case by a grand jury.
Ortiz believes that other women could have had similar experiences outside the Walmart Supercenter on U.S. 181 in Floresville, and he urges them to immediately call the Floresville Police Department at 830-393-4055.
