Author offers scholarships
SPOKANE, Wash. -- Linda Lael Miller, a No. 1 New York Times bestselling author, is offering 10 $1,000 scholarships to women who have dreams of improving their lives through education, but struggle obtaining grants.
Miller’s scholarships are unique in that the winners may use the funds not only for tuition, educational fees, and books, but also for expenses traditional scholarships don’t cover, such as gas and child care.
Past winners have included not only women who long to upgrade their job skills, but also those who have suffered domestic violence, overcome substance abuse, and are coping with personal or family disabilities.
To qualify, applicants must be legal residents of the United States or Canada, and be enrolled in or attending a U.S. or Canadian college or university. Also, women must be 25 years old or older, and must write a 500-word essay that explains how achieving their educational goals will enhance their future and that of their families. The application deadline is Saturday, Sept. 1.
The rules and application form are available at http://www.LindaLaelMiller.com, or by request at Linda Lael Miller Scholarships for Women, 7702 Barnes Road, Suite 140-81, Colorado Springs, CO 80922.
