The Independent Cattlemen’s Association of Texas (ICA) would like to invite all area cattlemen and women, farmers, and area rural folks to the South Central Texas Independent Cattlemen’s Association meeting Thursday, July 19, at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Jourdanton Community Center, located across from the Atascosa County Jail. A complimentary barbecue dinner will be served.

After the meal, ICA Executive Director Bill Hyman will give the cattlemen an update from the Texas Animal Health Commission on the new tagging rules, as well as other pertinent information that affects all areas of cattle-raising in Texas.

Also on hand will be Dennis Hale, AgriLife Extension Service agent, who recently completed a three-year study on coastal Bermuda and its nutrients retention. The chapter heard Hale speak in Karnes County in October 2010 and this will be a follow-up on the completion of the study.

You are welcome to join us and take a neighbor with you. The meal is complimentary and you don’t have to be a member to join us for the meeting/meal.

The ICA represents the interests of all cattlemen and women of Texas, and their concerns most of the time are the same as area farmers and those in the rural community.

For more information and registration for the meal, call local chapter President Brad Cotton at 830-391-0337, chapter Director Dickie Jackson at 830-391-3153, or A.L. “Windy” Miller at 210-215-1139.

Miller is a director of the SCTICA and first vice president of the state ICA.
