From South Texas Political Alliance

By George Rodriguez

The latest unemployment figures for the nation show at least 12.7 million unemployed persons in July 2012. This was essentially unchanged from the June unemployment rate of 8.2 percent. Among the major worker groups, Hispanics (11.0 percent) showed little or no change.

However, Hispanic liberals in Texas are not saying a word about this terrible figure. They would rather support President Obama’s failed economic policies, and cling to their liberal ideology of more taxation (or is that a penalty?) to create more on dependence by people on government programs.

The irony is that Texas’ and San Antonio’s good economic fortune is because state leaders have taken a conservative approach with public policies that do not hindered private business growth and development. Hispanic unemployment in Texas remains lower than the national figure.

Hispanic Texans should avoid being pulled down by liberals who support and want to duplicate Obama’s failed economic policies in our state.

Instead of supporting President Obama’s Euro-socialist economic policies, Hispanic leaders should promote more personal freedom and free enterprise. Our state is the model for the rest of the nation for economic growth and stability with less government spending and intrusion.
