Editorial: Roberts’ tie-breaking vote awakens sleeping giant

When I heard the news, “The mandate has been declared unconstitutional,” I jumped up and gave Mikki a high five. Okay, maybe I didn’t jump up, but I waddled over to her easel. About the time I reached her, the announcer said, “Wait, it looks like the mandate did pass in the form of a tax. Chief Justice Roberts is calling the individual mandate a tax.”
I felt an unexplained emptiness in the pit of my belly. I moped around until bedtime. I felt betrayed. I groveled between anger and sadness. Then sometime during the night, I came to realize Chief Justice Roberts pulled one of the most brilliant political moves in the brief history of the United States. He set the stage to guarantee the defeat of President Obama in November if the American people unite.
Sarah Palin said, “This is the largest tax increase in the history of America.” No American wants to see their taxes raised, and this is precisely what the new Obamacare law does.
If you earn $18,000 a year, you will pay the new tax. There will be no waivers granted on this new tax. Everyone pays. We now have 20 additional taxes because the mandate has been changed into a tax. The 16,000 new IRS agents will be busy collecting taxes generated by Obamacare.
Roberts is a brilliant man to put the tax onus back on the president. Otherwise why would Roberts make such a huge mistake? He didn’t think that switching the mandate to a tax was stupid, but a way to coin an old phrase, “Wake a sleeping giant.” Roberts had to know the average citizen wasn’t going to accept a massive tax increase without putting up a fight.
Here’s what happened -- Chief Justice Roberts played “pay-back time” with the president. If you have noticed, the president has treated the Supreme Court like his punching bag. He has constantly insulted them. He slammed the justices in his State of the Union Address with them sitting in the audience.
Roberts killed the individual mandate once and for all. The commerce clause can no longer use the individual mandate to force us to do anything. Roberts made the individual mandate unconstitutional. No one can ever try this move again. Roberts also showed it’s not smart to belittle the Supreme Court. The Democrats called the mandate a penalty and the Republicans a tax. Roberts etched in stone this is a tax. That’s a heavy blow to the Obama administration. As the old saying goes, “Payback is hard.”
Those who have been grumbling and sitting on the fence about supporting Romney now realize he is our only hope to prevent America the Great from becoming Greece the Crumbled. Four more years of President Obama and you won’t be able to recognize the America we grew up in. He has already made dramatic changes. Our $16 trillion debt will grow to $24 trillion if Mr. Obama gets four more years. His plans are to weaken our military to a Third World level. He is running ads trying to get more people on food stamps. Look how the sovereign state of Arizona is being treated. There now will be seven new taxes on those earning $250,000 or under.
It’s time the third-party ideologists realize we have only one shot to save our country. Willard Mitt Romney is not the perfect candidate, but he won’t play 101 rounds of golf his first three and a half years in office. He won’t have a blue dress scandal as William Jefferson Clinton. He will repeal Obamacare and not raise taxes. He is for smaller government. He is for states’ rights.
We only have one chance, and that is Romney. A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama. Romney is the most qualified businessman to ever run for president. Look at the successful companies Romney has funded, Toys “R” Us, Clear Channel Communications, Dunkin’ Donuts, Home Depot, Staples, Domino’s, Guitar Center, Warner Music, Burger King, Sports Authority, Sealy, and The Weather Channel. Bain funded 260 companies in all. Almost 80 percent of those he funded became successful.
Drudge reports Mitt Romney raised $4.3 million yesterday after the Supreme Court upheld Obamacare. Money poured in from all over the country. It’s up to you. Join us or see the country go over the cliff. Chief Justice John Roberts gave us the perfect platform to win in November. It’s up to us to bring home the victory and save the country.
You who supported Mr. Obama the first time can see now he didn’t keep his promises to cut the deficit in half and end the wars. He was going to close Gitmo. He promised not to raise taxes and now we know he gave us the largest tax increase in the history of our nation. This time, vote to save America.
