Zoning change, concrete work dominate St. Hedwig agenda
ST. HEDWIG -- A new store could be opening here, following a unanimous decision July 12 by the St. Hedwig City Council to approve a request to rezone a property located at 395 E. F.M. 1518.
Mayor Mary Jo Dylla said following the meeting that D.R. Barr’s property was changed from a “residential/agriculture” classification to a “commercial” classification. She said Barr has expressed the desire to open an antiques and resale store there.
Also during the meeting, the council:
•Approved a $3,260 proposal by San Antonio-based Big B Construction Co. to pour curbs and repair sidewalks in the city’s park. This comes on the heels of the recent installation of playground equipment.
•Discussed Bexar County’s ongoing watershed project, which will include the county’s installation of solar-powered warning signs at a low-water crossing where the Martinez Creek crosses Graytown Road.
•Formally approved the Alamo Area Council of Governments’ hazard mitigation plan.
•Set the council’s next meeting for Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7:30 p.m. Dylla said a preliminary report on the city’s fiscal year 2013 budget and tax rate and some proposed road construction projects are among the items set to be discussed.
