Offer condolences


Gervase F. Moczygemba, a lifelong resident of Wilson County, Texas, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, at the age of 78 years and 1 month. Gervase was born June 10, 1934, in Floresville, the son of Ben L. and Martha Sekula Moczygemba.

After graduating from Poth High School in 1952, Gervase married Marlene Preiss on July 12, 1952, in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth. He worked in civil service for 27 years, and was an insurance agent and a district director 33 years for Hochheim Prairie Insurance, alongside his farming and ranching. Gervase was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and the Grand Lodge of the Order of the Sons of Hermann.

Gervase was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Albert Moczygemba.

Gervase is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Marlene Moczygemba; his children, Karen Sue Posey and husband Jim, Ira Wayne Moczygemba and wife Karen, and Lisa Orth and husband Bryan; his grandchildren, Heidi Noll and husband Douglas, Thomas Posey and wife Melanie, Sherman Posey and wife Megan, Matthew Moczygemba, Blaine Moczygemba, Betsy Medford and husband James, Barrett Orth, and Amy Orth; his great-grandchildren, Tobyn and Owyn Noll, and Blake Posey; and his brothers, Arthur Moczygemba, Clyde Moczygemba, Leroy Moczygemba, and Francis Moczygemba.

Visitation was held on Friday, July 13, at 5:30 p.m. with a rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Poth.

A funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the church, officiated by the Rev. Grzegorz Szewczyk, S.D.S.

Interment followed in the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Cemetery in Poth.

Serving as pallbearers were Gervase’s grandsons, Thomas Posey, Sherman Posey, Matthew Moczygemba, Blaine Moczygemba, and Barrett Orth, and Wayne Scholtz.

Memorials may be made to National Shrine of St. Jude, 205 W. Monroe St., P.O. Box 4837, Chicago, IL 60680-4837; or to a charity of one’s choice.
