Killers of Gloria Flores, Sylvia Clark still at large

Investigators from the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office and the Texas Rangers continue to appeal to the public for help in solving two murders that both reached another anniversary July 19.
Sylvia Perez Clark, 50, was beaten, strangled, and left to die July 19, 2009, on a hallway floor in her home on Twin Oaks Drive south of La Vernia. The lengthy investigation, which has yielded few leads, has been stymied by delays within the Texas Department of Public Safety’s crime laboratories. The case also is now on its third ranger, as two consecutive rangers assigned to Wilson County have been reassigned. This is why Crime Stoppers of Wilson County is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Clark’s killer.
Exactly 11 years earlier, 66-year-old Gloria Flores was shot to death July 19, 1998, outside her home on F.M. 1303 near the intersection of C.R. 155 northwest of Floresville. Wilson County Sheriff Joe D. Tackitt Jr. said that, like the Clark case, Flores’ case is considered cold, because it has been years since investigators have received any leads.
“We’re still ready to investigate any leads we may have,” he said. “So far, we haven’t had anything.”
Anyone with information about either case is asked to call the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office at 830-393-2535. Anonymous tips, which can lead to cash rewards, can be given to Crime Stoppers of Wilson County at 830-393-INFO (4636) or online at bit.ly/NDrIut.
