Marie Kreitz Menger, a longtime resident of the Elmendorf area, entered eternal rest Friday, July 13, 2012, at 2:25 p.m. in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 91 years, 5 months, and 23 days. Anna was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Bastrop County, the daughter of Frank and Olga Friske Kreitz.

She attended Elmendorf schools and was a homemaker. Anna married Alfred Claude Menger on Oct. 27, 1943, in St. Anthony Catholic Church in Elmendorf, where they were both lifelong members, and where Anna actively served in the Altar Society.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred Claude Menger Sr.; her brothers, Edward Kreitz, John Kreitz, Frank Kreitz, Henry Kreitz, and Maurice Kreitz; her sisters, Rose Floyd and Teresa Gillet; and her son-in-law, Bob Alms.

Anna is survived by her son, Alfred Menger of Elmendorf; her daughter, Patricia Alms of Mesquite; her sister, Dorothy Felux and husband Fabian of Elmendorf; her grandchildren, Robert John Alms and Ronald Patrick Alms and wife Susan; her great-grandchildren, Luke and James; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Tuesday, July 17, at 5 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. in the Vinyard Funeral Home Chapel in Floresville.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Elmendorf, officiated by the Rev. William McNamara. Anna’s music was provided by Rick Skloss, Will Waclawczyk, Lawrence Jetter, Leroy Salinas, and Elizondro De Los Santos.

Interment followed in the St. Anthony Cemetery in Elmendorf.

Serving as pallbearers were Greg Felux, Harry Felux, Danny Carrera, James Williams, Billy Schroeder, and Bob Wahne. Serving as honorary pallbearers were Luke Alms, James Alms, Tyler Felux, and Cody Felux.
