Immanuel Lutheran Church is now hiring for a Youth and Family Ministry Director. Pastoral: Minister to youth and their families during Sunday School and other church programs, being present in their lives outside the church walls, available for common concerns and in crisis situations. Leadership: Recruit and nurture Youth and Family Ministry program. Administration : Manage the planning process and coordinate with Pastor and Youth Committee all regular ministries to youth and their families. This includes youth of all ages on Sunday mornings and mid-week events; assisting with Confirmation, special events, trips and retreats, and parent meetings. Stewardship: Ongoing evaluation of the effectiveness of youth programs, manage youth ministry budget, and collaborate with the sponsors of each Youth group. Ability to build, lead, and empower youth. Ability to implement a ministry vision. Familiarity with Lutheran Doctrine required; must be comfortable teaching it and representing Lutheran Theology. Proficient computer skills using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database, email, internet, and social media. Supervisory experience preferred. Ability to adapt and evaluate curriculum preferred. Must have excellent organization, communication (verbal and written), and listening skills, with a high degree of initiative and accountability. Exceptional interpersonal and relational skills required, with sensitivity to church members and visitors. Understanding and enjoyment of youth and families and guiding their spiritual development. Lea Darnell, 94, of Devine, Texas, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012, in Lytle. Rosa was born on April 29, 1918, to James Martin and Maggie Lola (Dunn) West.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin R. Darnell; and son J. Richard Little.

Rosa is survived by son Donald Ray Darnell and wife Kandi of Devine; daughter Iona Smith and husband Ernie of Greybull, Wyo.; daughter-in-law Terry Little of Floresville; sister-in-law Lorraine Louise Toth of Boerne; grandsons Jonathan Patrick Darnell of Devine, Scott Little and wife Laura of Sugar Land, Jason Little and wife Jennifer of Sugar Land, Shaun Little and wife Sarah of San Antonio, Jeremy Smith and wife Kami of Wyoming, and Aaron Smith of Montana; great-grandchildren Molly, Maddy, Katie, and Abbie Little of Sugar Land, Alex, McKenna, Aiden, and Kobbe of Dayton, Wyo., and Alex, Jacob, and Nathan Little of San Antonio.

Visitation was Monday, July 23, from 2-9 p.m. in the Hurley Funeral Home in Devine.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Interment followed in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Honorary pallbearers were Jonathan Patrick Darnell, Scott Little, Jason Little, Shaun Little, Jeremy Smith, Aaron Smith, Jim Sorrett, and Tim Lynch.
