Offer condolences

Effie Caroline Hawkins Cone, 79, of La Vernia, Texas, passed away on Monday, July 16, 2012. She was born on July 6, 1933, in Nockenut to Alvin and Geneva (Neyland) Hawkins.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; husband R.L. Cone Jr.; and grandson Mark Shane Houser.

She is survived by her daughter, Ree Houser and husband Mark of Valliant, Okla.; sons Norvel Lynn Cone and wife Kimbra of La Porte, Texas, Wesley Darrell Cone and wife Roberta of Brandon, Miss., Ral Loyd Cone III and wife Linda of La Vernia, and Wesley Joseph Cone and wife Sylvia of La Vernia; grandson Brandon Houser and wife Michelle; great-grandchildren Haley Houser, Rhianna Houser, Braden Houser, Brooklyn Houser, and John Paul Cone; sister Sipple Lee West of San Antonio; brothers Wade Hawkins of Floresville and Macon Hawkins of Clear Lake; numerous nieces and nephews; and many loving friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 17, from 1-2 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia.

A funeral service was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the funeral chapel with Dr. Robert Palan officiating.

Interment took place in the Valliant City Cemetery in Valliant, Okla.

Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
