This brightly colored coral snake was discovered July 18 about a mile outside of Stockdale. While most adult coral snakes in Texas average between 2 and 2-1/2 feet in length, this snake was a bit larger at 32 inches. Coral snake venom is a neurotoxin, which attacks a victim’s nervous system. If bitten, victims should call 911 and seek medical attention immediately.
