Wilson County Judge Marvin Quinney confirmed today that Ray Wolff -- who has served as Wilson County’s auditor since the 1980s -- is resigning.

“He’s going to be sorely missed,” said Quinney, who praised Wolff’s performance.

The judge said Wolff notified him verbally of his resignation, which will be effective Tuesday July 31. Quinney said, however, that Wolff has indicated that he will work with the county in crafting its 2013 fiscal year budget.

It is yet unknown who will replace Wolff Quinney said. Under state law, district judges Stella Saxon and Donna Rayes are responsible for appointing a successor.

VOTE TODAY for a new Wilson County Precinct 3 Commissioner, too! Check the paper's polling location list. We don't vote in the usual place - it's by Box Number. Wonder when PCT. 3 was last audited. Interesting timing.

It would be helpful to know the range of county law enforcement salaries. Without this information, any comments about pay cannot be fact based.
