Conservation agency seeks local input
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service, the Wilson County Soil and Water Conservation District, and the Local Working Group invite the public to the annual Conservation Stakeholders Meeting Friday, Aug. 3, at 10:30 a.m., in the USDA Service Center Conference room located at 1106 10th St. in Floresville.
All landowners and land managers in Wilson County are encouraged to attend and participate in this meeting. This open-discussion public meeting will focus on identifying area natural resource concerns that can be addressed using conservation programs and activities.
Through the Wilson County Soil and Water Conservation District, the Local Working Group will provide recommendations to the Natural Resources Conservation Service District Conservationist on local natural resource priorities and criteria for conservation activities and programs planning for the upcoming fiscal year. These issues will be especially important in decisions made for financial assistance when implementing the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). The information gathered from these meetings will be used to help carry out the EQIP and other programs in 2013.
For information, including eligibility requirements, visit or call the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service office in the USDA Service Center at 830-393-3555, ext. 3, or visit www.tx.nrcs.usda.gov.
