The Polka Lovers Klub of America (Po.L.K. of A.), Texas Chapter I, recently awarded $500 scholarships to Scott Lyssy of Falls City High School and Emily Barton of Needville High School.

Scott is the son of Melvin and Nancy Lyssy of Falls City and was sponsored by his grandmother, Georgia Zidek of Floresville.

Emily is the daughter of Roger and Julia Barton of Needville and was sponsored by her grandparents, Johnny and Cycinya Barton of Weimar.

Both Emily and Scott will be attending Texas A&M University this fall. Emily is headed for the main campus at College Station, while Scott will attend Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The Po.L.K. of A. is a charitable organization whose charter is to carry out the heritage of music and dance by spreading friendship, good will, and the love of polka music. Polka lovers in this organization are spread throughout South Central Texas.
