POTH -- While only on the job for 13 months, Poth Independent School District (ISD) Superintendent Andy Peters already is moving on.

Peters confirmed today that he has been named the lone finalist in Marfa ISD’s superintendent search. He said that based on state laws regarding hiring a new school superintendent, the earliest he would be able to accept the position would be Aug. 16; Peters has asked the Poth ISD board of trustees to release him from his contract on that date.

Peters came to Poth ISD in July 2011 from the Louise ISD. He replaced former Superintendent David Wehmeyer, who retired after serving the district in that capacity for seven years.

Peters said he has recom-mended that Special Education Director Scott Caloss -- who served previously as the principal of Poth Junior High School -- should serve as interim superintendent.
