Excitement is building about San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro giving the key note address at the National Democratic convention. The liberal establishment and the mainstream media are giddy over Castro, and his twin brother Joaquin, and it is reminiscent of Barak Obama's coronation four years ago.

All of this excitement is very curious when one compares the similarities Obama and Castro have, particularly since Castro is being touted as the “first Hispanic president”.

First, neither Obama nor Castro had a father in their home or a traditional family structure. They did have radical friends and mentors. Obama had people like William Ayers and Rev. Jeremiah Wright, while Castro’s mother was a member of the radical Raza Unida party, and she was influenced by Saul Alinsky’s teachings.
Although both men say they are Christians, with Castro claiming to be a Catholic, they are both pro-gay marriage and pro-abortion.

Their economics are also liberal as they both are pro-union, and neither has any real private sector experience.

Both seem to ignore obvious facts and pretend or fabricate a new truth. Speaking at a fundraiser in California on Monday night, July 23, Obama said, “we tried our plan (economic policies), and it worked”. It worked if he wanted high unemployment, massive growth in the dependence on government handouts, and regulations that are strangling America’s industries. On the other hand, Castro takes credit for San Antonio’s economic growth while he refuses to acknowledge that Texas’ conservative economic policies are responsible.

Then there is the complete disregard both men appear to have for the rule of law, specifically Obama for the U.S. Constitution and Castro for the municipal charter of San Antonio. Obama has shown his contempt for the Constitution by ignoring immigration laws, voting rights violations, and Congress. Castro has ignored the San Antonio city charter in the regards to zoning issues and other city actions such as the name change for Durango Street and the granting of city benefits to the domestic partners of city employees. Castro has also wanted to ignore immigration laws, and create a "sanctuary city".

Both men also support heavily public-subsidized mass transportation, and want central city growth at the expense of suburban communities and private property.
Castro has recently proposed to give city tax payer money to public schools for a program for 4 year olds. He ignores that public schools have failed miserably with millions of dollars of tax money already, and now he is willing to give more money and younger children to this failed system to create his own political legacy.

While conservatives are currently trying to stop Obama from regaining the White House, they should also worry about stopping Castro (and his twin). Neither America nor Texas, can afford another radical who has no traditional family values, and or who uses race and ethnicity as basis for being in office.

Castro's mother is without a doubt an extreme radical. She has publicly stated the defenders of the Alamo, including the Mexicans, were nothing but scum and drunkards. Santa Anna was a fine gentleman and the Mexican army was ... More ›
