Letter: The Tea Party ascendancy

Editor:

Oh, what a morning when the RINOs (Republicans in name only) begin to fall. The morning of Aug. 1 was just too much to digest at one sitting.

Tea Party clout was displayed like never before during the Texas Primary run-off election. I doubt that the Tea Party will be subjected to mockery and ridicule anymore. It has become a nightmare and threat to both Democrats and RINOs.

Again, I must point out that the Tea Party does not want to usurp and replace the GOP; it merely wants to serve as the leaven or the yeast to make the Republican Party rise to its former greatness during the Reagan years. If any moderate Republicans have a problem with that, well, too bad! Get used to it.

I must admit that I had always voted for David Dewhurst for many years, but this time it was no question at all. Dewhurst’s negative and vicious attack ads were just too much for most voters to accept.

Furthermore, Dewhurst’s conservative credentials were wanting compared to Cruz’s conservative values.

State Sen. Jeff Wentworth suffered from the same problems. Wentworth’s vicious attack ads backfired on him, giving Dr. Donna Campbell a 2-to-1 margin of victory.

Let’s hope that false and vicious attack ads will not be seen in future Texas elections.
