The Moody Gardens Convention Center in Galveston was the site for the University of Texas Medical Branch School of Medicine commencement ceremony on June 2.

Ashley Varnon Aleman was awarded the degree Doctor of Medicine. She graduated magna cum laude and received the following honors: Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Gold Humanism Honor Society, the American Medical Women’s Association Glasgow-Rubin Achievement Citation, and the William L. Marr Award in Medicine.

Dr. Aleman matched into the Internal Medicine Residency Training Program at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Dr. Aleman is a graduate of Floresville High School and Houston Baptist University. She is the daughter of Bill and Jennifer Varnon of Floresville. She and her husband, Jaime, currently reside in San Antonio.
