Help Wanted

ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Three members of the Wilson County 4-H Dog Project attended the 2012 Texas 4-H State Dog Show held July 13-15 in Conroe. Showing their dogs in the state show were Sarah Keith of the Three Oaks 4-H, and Christine and Gina Colby, both of the Wood Valley 4-H.

The members’ placings at the state show include:

•Conformation -- Sarah with Chief, first, hound group; Gina with Homer, second, hound group; Christine with Kirby, sixth, non-purebred under 25 pounds; and Christine with Stubbs, fifth (out of a field of 26), herding group.

•Showmanship -- Sarah with Chief, third, senior pre-novice showmanship; Christine with Stubbs, first, intermediate novice showmanship; Gina with Kirby, second, senior advanced showmanship. (Note: Christine will move on to the next level next year.)

•Agility -- Christine with Stubbs, first, novice standard agility (Note: She will move on to the next level next year.)

•Jumpers with Weaves -- Christine with Stubbs, third, novice jumpers with weaves.

•Tricks -- Christine with Stubbs, ninth, tricks.
