From Congressman Cuellar at work in his DC office:

Earlier this week, I asked you to participate in an email survey so that I could hear from you about the issues you would like Congress to prioritize before the end of the year. Thank you to all of you who participated in this survey.

I’m writing today to share with you that the top three issues constituents want to see Congress prioritize are tax reform, the economy, and the Medicare and Social Security programs.

There is no question that the issues that topped the survey are important ones that touch the lives of all Americans.

To address these issues, I will use my voice as your representative to encourage my colleagues in the House of Representatives to swiftly take up bipartisan legislation to:

Speed up the momentum of economic recovery by helping to pass legislation to encourage job growth, promote American manufacturing and support small businesses

Overhaul the tax system to eliminate loopholes and level the playing field in order to allow hardworking Americans to keep as much of the money that they’ve earned in their pockets as possible

Protect and strengthen the Medicare and Social Security programs because after a lifetime of hard work, seniors deserve the security these programs provide

It is an honor to serve you in Congress, and I thank you for taking the time to let me know about the issues that are important to you.

Congressman Henry Cuellar

Congressman Henry Cuellar is a member of the U.S. House Homeland Security and Agriculture Committees. Job creation, accessibility to constituents, education, economic development, and national security are his priorities. Congressman Cuellar is also a Vice Chairman of the Steering and Policy Committee, Senior Whip, and member of the Blue Dog Coalition.

I have to agree with txeagle in that while he's giving lip service to 'reaching out' if you write him you get form letter responses (if at all) that don't address your letter directly. They're usually ra-ra-ra propaganda... More ›

Whether you agree with him or not, I appreciate that he’s actually making the effort to reach out and start a conversation about our priorities. How many other elected officials do that?

On the contrary. Ol Hank is really beating the drum for Romney. The Obama administration, after over 3 years, has done nothing to address the 3 issues he listed as most important. Way to go Hank. Romney/Ryan in November!
