FLORESVILLE -- Local residents soon may have another option for entertainment in the city of Floresville as the Floresville Economic Development Corp. (FEDC) has approved the sale of a 2-acre plot of land for development as a bowling alley. The site was sold to local business owners Eric and Lisa Rodriguez for $56,650, with approval by the FEDC board during its Aug. 6 regular meeting.

The sale was made conditional that the Rodriguezes build according to the plans presented to the FEDC for an entertainment facility, to include a bowling alley. The facility must be completed or show substantial progress within one year of closing on the sale or it could revert back to FEDC ownership.

“We looked at all of the offers presented to us, and the one presented by Mr. and Mrs. Rodriguez best fit what our original intent for that land was,” said FEDC Executive Director Jesse Perez. “There will be conditions attached to the sale, but overall, the Rodriguezes’ vision for the property best matched our own.”

Any deviation from the conditions set forth in the approval will nullify the sale and consideration would move to the next potential buyer after one year, Perez said.

Also during the meeting:

•Perez addressed issues regarding posting of agendas on the FEDC website.

•Perez advised the FEDC will not provide a road to connect the Veterans Park to S.H. 97. Any infrastructure to link that area to the highway will be the responsibility of the developer, Perez said.

•The board approved the sale of 14 acres at $5,000 per acre to Valley Energy Co. No information about the company was provided during the meeting.
