Stockdale Independent School District (ISD) welcomes everyone back for the 2012-13 school year! We hope that teachers, staff, students, and parents have had a great summer. First day of classes will be Monday, Aug. 27.

As school does kick into gear, we would like to remind everyone about the speed zones on the local roads. Please be careful when traveling these roads. Let’s keep everyone safe and have a great start to this new year.

Congratulations to the Stockdale ISD teachers of the year:

•Stockdale Elementary School - Pat Rutland

•Stockdale Junior High School - Jennifer Martin

•Stockdale High School - Charlin Akin

The new athletic year is beginning with football and volleyball practices in full swing. Football and volleyball have new districts this with the biannual realignment. New to the football district are Bloomington, Cotulla, and Natalia, and new to the volleyball district are Poth, Schulenburg, and Hallettsville. Good luck to all the Brahmas and Lady Brahmas this year!

The Stockdale ISD will be transitioning this year to a six-week grading period model. Previously, a nine-week grading period was used. Parents and students, if you have any questions regarding this change, please contact your campuses.

Once again, let’s have a great 2012-13 school year!

Paul Darilek is the superintendent of the Stockdale Independent School District.
