ON-CALL CRISIS POOL WORKERS NEEDED. Part-time positions are available for after hours “on-call” crisis workers to respond to mental health crisis for Wilson and Karnes Counties. Duties include crisis interventions, assessments, referrals to stabilization services, and referrals for involuntary treatment services according to the Texas Mental Health Laws. You must have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, nursing, etc. On-call hours are from 5 p.m.-8 a.m. weekdays, weekends and holidays vary. If selected, you must attend required training and must be able to report to designated safe sites within 1 hour of request for assessment. Compensation is at a rate of $200 per week plus $100 per completed and submitted crisis assessment, and mileage. If interested call Camino Real Community Services, 210-357-0359.

Joyce Black, 78, of Nixon, Texas, died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in Seguin. She was born March 3, 1934, in Nixon, the daughter of Annie Martha (Smith) and Frederick Lee Young Sr. Joyce was a member of the Union Valley Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Travis Jordan; two brothers, Fred Lee Young Jr. and James Roland Young; and her sister, Martha Young.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 60 years, James Wesley “Jack” Black; her two sons, James Allen Black and wife Mary, and Timothy Elliot Black and wife Tammy; her two daughters, Theresa Flores and husband Jesse, and Elizabeth “Beth” Laqua and husband Louis; her brother, Henry Arnold Young; her two sisters, Helen Mines and Nona Appleton; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Visitation was held Wednesday, Aug. 8, from 6-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon.

A funeral service was held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Don Hessong officiating.

Interment followed in the Rancho Cemetery near Nixon.

Memorial donations may be made to the Union Valley Baptist Church, 8221 F.M. 1681, Nixon, TX 78140, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
