The La Vernia High School Band received second place overall in the class AAA 2012 ATSSB Outstanding Performance Series with their entry, “American Riversongs.” In addition, the band’s performance of the song “Noble Men” was selected as second place in the march category. “American Riversongs,” with its second-place award, earned a place on the ATSSB outstanding performance CD that will be sent out to more than 800 ATSSB band directors across the state of Texas. The CD will include the first-place march and the top two concert selection pieces.

To be chosen for this honor, the band’s performances had to survive a rigorous audition process at the Region, Area, and State levels. Just making it to the State level of competition is a feat in itself, but to be selected as the second-place winner in the concert selection category and runner-up in the march category is an achievement that few bands ever experience.
