SAN ANTONIO -- The Professional Bull Riders (PBR) have announced that the top 35 bull riders in the world will compete against the best bucking bulls on the planet when the PBR Built Ford Tough Series returns to the AT&T Center for the San Antonio Invitational Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17-18. Bull riding begins at 8 p.m. on Friday and at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Leading the way into San Antonio are home-state favorites Douglas Duncan from Alvin, 2004 PBR World Champion Mike Lee from Decatur, Harve Stewart from Stephenville, and Stormy Wing from Dalhart. Read an interview with Mike Lee in an upcoming issue of the Wilson County News.

It will be the last chance for fans in Texas to watch two-time PBR World Champion Chris Shivers, who announced in February that he would retire at the end of the season. The 33-year-old, who won the PBR World Championship in 2000 and 2003, was the first rider in PBR history to reach $1 million, $2 million, and $3 million, and he currently ranks third in career earnings with more than $3.9 million.

Competing for more than $125,000 in total prize money, each of the top 35 riders in the world will ride on Friday and Saturday. The overall event winner will be the rider with the highest combined score from all four rounds, earning $30,000 for first place.

Tickets begin at $10 at the AT&T Center box office, www.Ticketmaster.com, and by telephone at 1-800-745-3000.
