The 81st Judicial District Attorney’s office is seeking candidates for the position of an Administrative Assistant. Duties will include but not limited to: answering incoming calls and greeting visitors, prepare discovery for defense bar as required, providing administrative and clerical support to the ADAs and District Attorney, assist in general office work and perform related duties as follows: Operate a multi-line telephone switchboard, proficient use of software applications and computer equipment, scanning and compiling files for eDiscovery, filing and creating court files, generating reports as required. Applicants must have at least five (5) years of administrative assistant experience, strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) ability to multi-task, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Pleasanton Young Farmers’ rodeo, festival Aug. 17-18

Pleasanton Young Farmers’ Cowboy of the Year Rodeo & Festival will be held Friday and Saturday, Aug. 17-18, at the Atascosa County Showbarn Arena located between Pleasanton and Jourdanton on S.H. 97.

Friday’s festivities include a barbecue cook-off for three meat entries and beans.

The activities continue with the announcement of the “Cowboy of the Year” and South Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame honorees at 7:30 p.m.

A rodeo will be held at 8 p.m. Events include a ranch bronc riding, calf roping, breakaway, barrel racing, team roping, steer wresting, and bull riding.

Immediately following the rodeo, dance to the music of the “Rocky King Band,” which will perform traditional and Western swing.

Saturday afternoon’s events include a washer tournament and chicken roping.

Entertainment will be provided by the “Bracken Hale Band” at 4 p.m. According to his website, Hale is the “bandleader and frontman of one of the hippest original dance bands” who delivers “pure Fender twang and well-crafted honky-tonk music.”

A second rodeo will be held at 8 p.m., followed by the music of Camille Sanders and traditional country music by Rodney Hayden. Autographed CDs of Sanders will be given to children, courtesy of Manning Safety.

Vendors are welcome.
