The Texas Youth Rodeo Association finals were held July 24-29 in Gonzales. Two Floresville ladies, Jewel Mendez and Taylor Griffin, were among the participants to make the finals in the team roping.

The top 25 team ropers had to rope two head, with the top 10 teams going back to the short go. The girls came ready to compete, getting an 8.36 second time on their steer in the first round.

Luck did not go their way as they took a no time in the second round, eliminating them from the short go.

Although disappointing, the girls had a very successful year.

Taylor would like to send a special thank-you to her sponsor, Matt Dockery and family from Seymour Construction in Karnes City, for their continued encouragement and support.
