Marion, TX.,(Aug. 18th, 2012) Another of the IHRA Summit Super Series was hosted by San Antonio Raceway Saturday night, featuring bracket and index racing. Early on the track was able to dodge the scattered showers that dotted the area, and while the occasional cloud cover helped keep the temperatures under 100 for the first time in a while, it was still humid and muggy as the first round of time trials kicked off.
As the first round of Jr. Dragsters took to the staging lanes the track temperature was a toasty 123. Mid-way through time trials a shower popped up and drifted across the track dropping a lot of rain in a short time forcing track officials to cancel racing for the evening.
Next week the track plays host to Grudgefest 2012 on Saturday August 25th with racing on both the 1/8th and 14 mile. A big purse is up for grabs in the ‘Quick 8’ for the eight fastest door cars on the property, along a ‘Little Pooch Quick 16’, True 10.5 and Motorcycle Shootout. Electronics and Footbrake will also be in competition on the 1/8th mile. Highlighting the evening will be the Tulsa Heat, Jet powered Funny Car.
