Teodora Moreno DeLeon Cano, 86, of Leesville, Texas, died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012. She was born Oct. 18, 1925, in Guadalupe County to Pilar and Cornelia Moreno DeLeon. Teodora married Hilario Ramos Cano on June 17, 1945, in Gonzales County. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nixon. Teodora was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, known by her family as “Wela.” She will be dearly missed, said her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four sisters, Ignacia Robles, Felipa Fleming, Christina Gomez, and Consuelo DeLeon.

Teodora is survived by her children, Dora Pena and husband Johnny Pena Sr. and Larry Cano and wife Janie, all of Leesville, Charlie Cano of Pandora, and Alex Cano and wife Mary of Seguin; and two sisters, Frances Garcia of California and Rosa Davila of Lubbock. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was held Thursday, Aug. 16, from 5-8 p.m. in the Finch Funeral Chapel in Nixon with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. by Deacon John Moreno.

A funeral Mass was held Friday at 11 a.m. in the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Nixon.

Interment followed in the Leesville Cemetery in Leesville.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
