Johnny football will win games for you guys but he doesn't have the supporting cast to get you a SEC title. I do wish all the old big 12 teams luck and hope they do well in the SEC, but I think they will be a 3rd place team at best.

Its a new decade now. Floresville will start to win as long as Jefe is in charge. Poth will continue to win like they have done since 1915. Look I don't hate Texas. My maid's kids go to Texas and the guys that show up to my house to mow my grass are always sporting the burnt orange. But its a new day in Texas and Johnny Football will make all you t shirt longhorn fans go into the closet like you did from 1984 thru 1995. Good day sir. I've got to get some sleep because I need to be fresh tomorrow to watch my niece and her friends advance another game closer to another state championship.

T-Bone, Luna has been for awhile now even thru all the losing records the last 4 years. We have had losing records but played in a brutal district against teams that are legendary in the state of Texas, Gregory Portland and Port Lavaca Calhoun. We don't get the luxury of playing against 2A power houses like Cole and Brooks academy. We have struggled against these teams but these teams are always in the top 20 in the state of Texas. I do believe our kids could be alot better with better coaching but I do congratulate them for making the playoffs this year, unfortunetly we drew the number 6 team in the state in the first round.

I watched the Texas State Marching Band Championships on my computer on Monday and Tuesday for $4.99/day. I consider that an extreme bargain. For anyone who hasn't seen the top 10 5A Marching bands or 3A marching bands, you should tune in next year for a treat. The accuracy, difficulty and showmanship of those groups is absolutely terrific. If you take dear old FHS Mighty Tiger band and imagine a band being about 5 times better, that's what the championship calibre bands look like.

The new athletic director and head football coach at the time was successful in comparison to other coaches that have come through F.H.S. As a matter of fact The current athletic director left to coach in your neck of the woods and later returned to Floresville.

You're right about your advise to lighten up....I do
need to lose some weight. You must be young if you
played for one of the current coaches given the short
span of most high school coaches in Texas. Well so much
for religion, have a good week. BTW, gas today in the
Dallas metroplex is in the 3.20s.

We won district the year I played and got smothered by Calallen in the post season. Its not the kids I'm poking fun at, its the program. So lighten up.

4GT: I'm sure maroon underwear are ok. Prarie Grpuch will be sporting his maroon bloomers. Oh goodness! Just got a bad visual. Lol.

The Tigers are doing well in their little pond, but they wouldn't last 2 week ends in my neck of the woods (Austin). Some of the best 4A schools in the state reside in the same area such as Lake Travis (5 time state champs in a row), Hendrickson (just moved to 5A from 4A this year and doing very well), Cedar Park (ranked state wide earlier in the year), Leander (ranked #8). And there several other area 4A teams that are not ranked but would easily clean the Tiger's plow. The current Tigers are better than many of the previous
Tiger teams, but in a good district they'd melt like a scoop of ice cream in a West Texas August sun.

Anyone who know anything about Texas high school football will tell you that. I'm very happy for our kids but the real test will come in the playoff rounds. Xavier.....Well coach, you must be one of the persons
responsible for the state of the continuing
decline in sportsmanship at the secondary level.
I am speaking specifically of the crowd trying to
drown out the quarterback of the opposing team. At one
time in the recent past, this behavior would cause
a penalty on the team of the guilty fans. I am not
a coach and my experience with little league parents lead
me to view coaching as a very difficult job. I have
a younger sibling who coached high school sports in
six decades so I am aware of all the trails and tribu-
lations of coaches. Everyone should bear in mind that
any coach who wins over half his or her games is a
winning coach. The skills of players entering into
high school level of playing has a lot to do with
a teams success. Many good programs used the same
offense and defense at all levels to achieve an
system that achieves proficiency in that system.
Good luck in your career and in explaining to the
quarterback club why Johnny dropped the ball when he
was in the clear. :)

Lots of factors go into why maybe they are or are not successful as they get older. Several will continue and do fine. Young bodies develop and mature, kids move away, lose interest, play against different kids and things like that. Plus, in jh and hs all kids must be given an opportunity,even those that havent played a down in their lives. Schools can't just use "select" kids. That's unethical and unprofessional.

They run the same play on offense all night and defense can never make the proper adjustments to stop the opposing offense. Its really sad to see, when I know we have some good talent on the team, however some of the better talent may be on the sidelines, because thier parents arent on the school board or have influence on the coaches, so I have heard.
